Description
The DBU-2328_M is designed for RS-232 asynchronous data protocols, featuring two input ports (Port-A and Port-B) and eight output ports (1-8). It operates using RTS/CTS handshaking, allowing one input port to connect at a time while the other remains in standby.
It should be noted that the RTS signal given to the products internal Microcontroller is a combination of RTS (pin 4) and DTR (pin 20) of the input Async port. If DTR is not required, there is a 3-Pin header on the PCB to enable or disable the DTR requirement. CTS is returned to the selected input port with a delay based on the 4 position dip switch settings 1 & 2. The delay range is based on milliseconds(ms), the options are: 5, 10, 25 and 50ms (50ms is factory default, best for async character recognition).
After input Port A or B is connected via RTS/CTS handshake Data is then transmitted out to the 8 broadcast ports. The broadcast ports are configured as DCE devices. Therefore, the data is transmitted out on pin 3 (Received data).
RTS from the selected input port is passed to the broadcast ports as CTS (pin 5)
CTS to the broadcast ports may be forced using S1 dip switch position 3 located on the PCB.
Carrier Detect (CD pin 8) and Data Set Ready (DSR pin 6) will be forced on each of the eight broadcast ports.
Input Port-A or Port-B will remain connected to the box for as long as RTS is high to the input port.
EXAMPLE: When Port-A drops RTS, Port-B can then have access if RTS is raised high.
There are two front panel switches to enable or disable the input async ports A or B.
Housed in a sturdy metal enclosure and equipped with an internal 110/220VAC switch selectable linear power supply, the unit will provide more than 400,000 hours of reliable service.
